New shipping containers are in fact once used. They are shipped from China with one load in. These tend to look a lot tidier than the used ones that have sailed on adventures all over the world. They are plated for shipping as well as still being ideal for storage if they are to be placed in a public area. As with all our units, they are well vented, structurally sound can be fitted with slim line cargo worthy lock boxes or standard ones for extra security.

Conversions

We specialise in all kinds of conversions and office units in particular. These are fitted with personnel doors and windows, they are lined and insulated, fitted with electrics and lights and often used on building sites to provide office space and secure storage. Conversions for shipping entails inverting the doors and windows and fitting them with waterproof shutters.

We can convert just about anything! If you send us your ideas with a sketch we will come back to you with options to suite

Wind and watertight containers mean that the containers are dry and sound. They are ideal for storage of goods and all sorts of other wonderful things, but not plated for shipping.

Cargo worthy containers need to have a specific plate on them that acts like a passport for the container. It will have a date on (usually our ones have a year) and proves that the container is fit to used for shipping purposes. The plate is known as a CSC plate, (Container Safety Certificate) Containers are usually decommissioned after approximately 10 to 12 years and the ASEP (Approved Continuous Examination Programme) which is ISO approved (International Standards Organisation) is removed and then the container is no longer cargo worthy.

It’s basically like having your car go through an MOT to ensure it is still road worthy. Used containers that are not cargo worthy can still go through the MOT and be re plated to get them back on the road or out to sea as the case may be...
